VN (Vocational Nursing)
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Vocational Nursing course is designed to teach students, a more extensive and in-depth knowledge and skills necessary for a student to be able to perform various duties as medication, treatments, and other procedures nurses caring for patients in a Long term facility or Acute care hospital.
Upon completion 1,564 hours hours of theory and clinical training, the student will be evaluated by the school on their competency to be eligible for graduation and to qualify for licensing examination
Licensure is awarded by the State through the Bureau of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician (BVNPT) after passing the Competency Examination (NCLEX).
Overview of the VN Program
Vocational Nursing is divided into theory class (604 hours of lecture class) and clinical and/or skills laboratory training (960 hours of practical experience), totalling to 1,564 hours for a year and a half. Theory class is divided into segments that include the following:

Communicable Disease Gerontological Nursing
Rehabilitative Nursing

REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of the following are required before starting the program:
Passing the entrance examination for Writing, Reading and Numerical Skills. (there is a fee for entrance exam, Call for Appointment)
17 years or older
US High School Diploma/GED Certification/Equivalent (Evaluation needed for foreign transcript)
Copies of Driver's License & SS Card
Two (2) 1x1 Pictures
Nursing Assistant Certificate/License
CPR "C" Card
First Aid & Fire Safety Card
Medical Clearance (PE, Hepatitis titre A & B, Varicella, Rubeola, Rubella, Drug Test, TB)
Letter(s) of recommendation (minimum of 2) from identifiable and respectable citizen of the US for at least 1 year, or resident of California for at least 2 years.

Classes begin every November upon successful completion of all requirements. Vocational Nursing program is a part-time course for 18 months (1,564 hours)

State Licensing Requirements:
A license is required for Vocational Nurse practice in the State of California. Upon program completion, graduates may apply for the licensing examination given by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
Job Opportunities:
Allied Medical & Health Services (AMHS), Inc. maintain a list of employers in their area of vocational practice. However, AMHS currently does not have a job placement. As an LVN, you will be eligible to work in the following areas:

In-Home care Services
All other Allied Health Institutions
* Students are requested to be available for the entire three (3) days during the training
